About Aqua Tools

Aqua Tools is a static aquarium planning site for calculators, species records, and compatibility checks.

Calculator approach

The calculators use transparent hobby math: unit conversions, dilution formulas, practical equipment ranges, and stated approximations. Each calculator explains the formula, why it matters, and where the result can be wrong.

These tools are designed for planning. Product labels, instrument calibration, livestock behavior, and experienced review still matter more than a single computed number.

Species records

Species care figures are compiled from general hobby consensus with AI assistance. Records keep confidence labels, review status, data-quality notes, and verification links where available.

The verification links are used for taxonomy and identifier checks, not as proof that every aquarium-care number is authoritative. Expert aquarist review is recommended before treating a record as final advice.

Compatibility checks

Compatibility pages are generated from rule checks for shared water type, parameter overlap, adult size, predation, temperament, fin-nipping, group needs, avoid tags, and combined tank-size planning.

The rules are intentionally conservative. They can flag obvious risks, but they cannot observe individual fish, local water, aquascape layout, feeding, quarantine history, or long-term behavior.

Licensing and sourcing

The site avoids copying care-blog text or restricted commercial datasets. Taxonomy and identifier verification may use openly available sources such as Wikidata, GBIF, and WoRMS with attribution. Non-commercial sources are not bulk-imported where their license does not fit the site.

Care disclaimer

Aqua Tools is not veterinary, emergency, or product-label advice. Confirm important decisions with multiple sources, test your water, quarantine livestock when practical, and consult an experienced aquarist or aquatic veterinarian for health concerns.
